Northey Contracting Inc. Heavy Equipment Shop

Northey Contracting Inc. Heavy Equipment Shop

Woodview, ON

A finalist at the 2015 Peterborough & the Kawarthas Home Builder Awards for "Best New Commercial Project", this 3200 sq ft shop was designed with a mind of expanding into heavy construction maintenance of the business. Built to be more efficient and environmentally friendly, this shop was insulated with the bib insulation system. Hydro foam insulation was used to insulate under the 6” concrete floors for the in-floor hot water tubes that produces heat from an outdoor boiler. Recycled wood from construction sites operate the outdoor boiler, ultimately saving huge heating costs. Exterior vinyl siding was installed with stone on the face of the shop to make it more visually appealing when passing by, but still blending in with the existing wood working shop on the same property. The interior of the shop was finished with plywood on the lower section of the 16’ walls to allow mounting of hooks and accessories then covered by beige interior steel sheathing. The upper half of the walls and ceilings were covered with white interior steel sheathing, maintaining the brightness of the fluorescent tube lighting in the shop. One side of the shop is used for repairs and maintenance of heavy equipment, with 37’ of steel cabinets and a work bench as well as a 4 post, 14,000 pound lift. The other side of the shop was designed for storage of heavy equipment throughout the winter. Northey Contracting Inc. offers heavy equipment construction services including site preparation, demolition, excavation, septic installation, backfilling, landscaping and more.
