North Stoney Reflection

Stoney Lake, ON

An award winning cottage for 2013 Kawartha Awards of Distinction for "Best Kitchen Renovation" and PKHBA Housing Design Awards 2015 for "Home Renovations $75,001-$200,000" for the basement renovation. This cottage was renovated in several stages, beginning with adding a hot tub living area with a sunken hot tub and an outdoor shower. The next stage was re-shingling the roof and adding a skylights. At this stage, we also renovated the bathrooms with heated tile floors, one including a steam room. The third stage was the entrance and main floor renovation. The heated tile entry was added providing more space when you walk in, greeted with a bold post and beam covered entrance with stone columns. The main floor was renovated to open concept, insulation was brought up to code, cathedral ceilings and bedroom ceilings were redone with pickled pine, a new award winning Aya Kitchen was installed, a beautiful propane fireplace and skylights were added, new flooring throughout the main floor, wood doors, trim and much more. Leading us to the last stage (as of now) for this beautiful cottage is the award winning basement renovation. The basement was outdated with aged carpet, pine wainscoting and pine ceilings in the great room. We removed the post in the middle of the great room and added a steel beam to create more usable space. Plenty of custom built-in Aya shelving and cupboards were installed on either side of the fireplace, closet and great room. We eliminated the long dark hallway to the bedrooms by moving the entrance to the center of the hall, opening with sliding barn board doors made in our own wood working shop. Nearly everything was updated including insulating, electrical and new lighting fixtures. These renovations have made this cottage look modernized and gives it a breath of fresh air! Now what's the next stage?

Client Testimonial:

"This project was one of several we've undertaken in the past five years, since buying our cottage on Upper Stoney Lake in 2010.  Each project has been done by Timberline, and we go back to them for the following reasons (and this last project was no exception).

Conventional wisdom is that if any major home renovation meets two of the following criteria, you should consider yourself lucky: very good quality, delivery on time, delivery within budget. Perhaps we're luckier than most, but Timberline has managed to deliver against all three criteria on all our renovation projects.  This was all-the-more surprising as a number of the projects were essentially 'floor to ceiling rebuilds' of various areas (e.g. kitchen, bedrooms, sitting rooms, new additions) of our 5 bedroom, two storey cottage.

Ray Northey and his folks at Timberline have a very approachable demeanour, making our interactions with them always engaging and helpful.  They make great recommendations on design (building on our initial ideas and wants), and - because they know the region so well - they can suggest excellent service providers and appliance vendors with value-for-money in mind.

Most important to us has been Timberline's responsiveness to our occasional follow up questions or concerns; if something is not quite right, or not what we'd expected, Ray and folks are always there to make adjustments and ensure we're happy with the end result.  Pride in the end product and a client service orientation set Timberline apart."
